    本書介紹

    本手冊主要介紹Oracle相關安裝和配置的基本方法。Oracle是運行在Windows和Unix操作平臺上的主流資料庫系統之一。因為Windows上的Oracle安裝配置相對比較簡單，所以本手冊只介紹Unix平臺上的安裝和配置，而且主要以Linux作業系統為主（筆者強烈推薦Linux）。如果不特別聲明，本文檔涉及的操作都是在Red Linux和Oracle9i上完成。

     Oracle的安裝主要包括作業系統安裝和資料庫系統安裝。

    Linux是一套免費使用和自由傳播的類Unix作業系統，它主要用於基於Intel x86系列CPU的電腦上。這個系統是由全世界各地的成千上萬的程式師設計和實現的。其目的是建立不受任何商品化軟體的版權制約的、全世界都能自由使用的Unix相容產品。雖然Linux是免費的作業系統，但是它依然是一種非常優秀的作業系統，支援多使用者，多進程，即時性好，功能強大而且穩定。同時具有良好的相容性和可攜性。

    RedHatt作為目前眾多發行版本本中的一種，一方面它已經是行業的標準，有大量為其開發的軟體；另一方面Redhat系統的穩定性及安全性非常出色。
